Saturday Update.

Filed under: Melanie — mlmiller @ 9:23 pm

Mel’s blood work from yesterday showed low hemoglobin count and low
platelet count, not extremely surprising but disappointing for Lori to
have to make a trip to the hospital for a transfusion which takes
approx. 4 hours. Mel’s spirit has been very upbeat which is a
blessing. What an answer to prayer! Along with that is the blessing of
spending thanksgiving surrounded by family. Turkey, stuffing, cream of
crab soup, bean and ham soup, corn, lima beans, layered salad, MASHED
POTATOES, cranberry sauce (shaped like a can), and many other various
and sundry items. Sorry for the delay in updates. Hope you all had a
blessed Thanksgiving celebration. In spite of the uphill journey, we
are blessed. God is still on the throne and He is good.

Melanie’s Update.

Filed under: Melanie — mlmiller @ 2:00 pm

We arrived yesterday(Tuesday) at A I duPont–Marty came along up with
us–He has no idea how grateful we always feel for him being able to
do that–as well as wanting to be here with us–he did have to leave
last night so he can be at home with our other children–and try to
get the dump truck back in operating condition!
They were very pleased with her blood work–Marty had to leave before
we heard any test results–when I stepped out into the hall, I met Dr.
Walter–he was assuming Dr. Powell had already talked to us–so the
cat sort of slipped out of the bag–he said the scans looked
“good”–we have not officially heard from Dr. Powell yet but were and
are so very grateful to our Heavenly Father once again for His touch
and for hearing the cry of our hearts–Our greatest desire is that we
would never give credit to anyone or thing except our Great
Physician!!
Melanie was asking if she still needs to keep going with the
treatments–I said we do–so chemo has begun again–it is 5 days which
will finish this round up at 9:00 pm Sunday night–we are of course
planning to be discharged that night–we would ask you all to join us
again in praying for some specifics–no adverse side effects from the
chemo—no mouth sores or infections–no fevers so we can spend our
“thanksgiving” together at home with family–Jana does not have school
next week so we are really looking forward to that–protection during
the “low” from germs etc.–wisdom from above for many decisions that
go with family life.
This journey is affecting each of our children in different
ways–for some much deeper than others–as a mom sometimes looking on
I feel so helpless to say and be what they need from time to time–I
believe that is why hospital stays have become very difficult–just
knowing that I can’t be there for those times of struggle. We do so
much appreciate how you all have helped to make our load feel a little
lighter by holding up our hands to the Father–also in many tangible
ways that have meant so much to our family, ways once again too
numerous to mention– we will never be able to personally thank you
all for your outpouring of love and care you have given to our
family–so if you are reading this we are grateful for you!
God continues to give us strength and promises from the Word that
have continued to encourage our hearts with faith and trust–one
challenge that I continue to hold before me comes out of the book of
Job–not sure of the reference–”in all this, Job did not charge God
foolishly”– the desire of my heart is that I would not question the
heart of God–one more short story–last Friday morning I had slipped
back to my parents store to get a few things when a lady came to pick
up some things too–we got to talking about Mel’s situation and she
shared with me a very encouraging verse that I had sort of “forgotten”
about–when Abraham was told of God’s plan to give them a son when
they were so old and Sarah had laughed–”the Lord said, ‘Is anything
too hard for God?’ “–it sure puts things in perspective when I remind
myself that I need to let God be God with complete trust and faith in
His ability to run the universe without my ideas—always much easier
said than practiced–We love you all and ask God to bless you
abundantly–Lori for the Miller’s

Monday Night

Filed under: Melanie — mlmiller @ 12:24 am

Just to let you all know that Melanie will be heading back to the hospital tomorrow.  She will be having lab work and then a CT scan and a MRI .  She will  then be starting another round of chemo. They want to stay on schedule because of the holidays coming up. I’m sure it looks big to them to face another hospital stay so lets keep on praying!
