I remember a while back, at church one Sunday there was a prayer request for your family.. from that day on I followed along with Melanie’s Journey and often wondered how would anyone handle all this and what would I do if one of my sisters would be going through this… well as I set here writing this my 28 year old sister is fighting for her life in the bed beside me and there are days when I still wonder how do I get through this.. I have been encouraged by your family’s faith and by all the words of songs and poems that you posted on the blog and my mind has went to you all a lot since August 2.. I guess I just mainly want to let you know that Melanie is still touching the lives of others through her family.. even though I don’t know you I feel I have a connection through just “knowing the pain “of watching a loved one suffer. I watched my Mom lose her battle, but I was too young to experience all that I am now . ~ Blessings ~ Christy Martin

Lori, I saw a link on Rob’s Facebook to some singing at the student convention, and when I saw your girls, it made me think of your blog, so I came over to look for an update. I found myself with tears in my eyes when I read this entry. I appreciate your reminder to savor the days that are here, right now. Because we don’t know when “normal” will end. Wow Lori to be able to say that after such tragedy is amazing. I too find myself holding tightly to the people I love. It’s been tough moving so far away and realizing that friendships may never be the same. Also seeing mom and dad going through so much pain, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by it all. I can’t imagine losing a child whether physically or spiritually. You are in my prayers and my thoughts. Thank you for your incredible testimony of God’s grace. Keep on holding on to Jesus!
